SEMO Tennis Camp at Southeast Missouri State University offers an opportunity for players to receive valuable instruction to get to the next level or beyond.
Coach Steve Brooks brings many years of experience to the Southeast Missouri Area. He worked several years at IMG Academies, has had students who won USTA Gold Balls, along with numerous USTA Sectional and State Champions. As a junior coach his high school teams/players have won many State Championships. As a junior coach in Bristol TN, Coach Brooks had a player ranked #1 in TN G10&u 7 out of 9 years. Fifteen of his juniors there won TN State Singles Championships. Coach Brooks also spent time coaching and traveling on the WTA tour, players ranked 36,70,85,100,120. During this time, he coached at the Miami, Cincinnati, Canadian, and US Open tournaments. As a collegiate player, Coach Brooks was undefeated in singles and doubles conference play all four years. He was also ranked #8 Nationally in doubles. His record of 100 singles and 100 doubles wins has not been broken over the past 40 years.
Drill / live ball progressions will be aimed towards recognizing and developing good habits in all aspects of the game. You will learn which shots should be played by considering court position, ball height/width/spin/depth/pace, score, etc. General courtesy, respect for teammates and opponents and the importance of hard work will be taught to the campers, through example by the Redhawk coaches and student-athletes.
Please note: if there is inclement weather that day, the session will be moved to the afternoon from 1:00-4:00, and if that is rained out, 5:00-8:00pm. If the day is rained out, we will use Saturday as a make-up day.
Early Morning Court Time
Students can choose to start camp early each day from 7:00am-8:00am where they have the option to do match play or work on a particular stroke with a coach.

All campers must carry their own health insurance. Southeast Missouri State University cannot be held responsible for injuries sustained at camps. An athletic trainer will be available on site for all camp sessions. Please notify camp staff and/or an athletic trainer in advance of any health conditions or needs. Each participant must have the Medical/Liability Waiver signed by their legal guardian. Please email the completed waiver to [email protected] or bring the completed printed waiver to camp during registration.
What if I have to cancel a camp?
Must cancel one week in advance of camp start date in order to receive refund. Processing fees are non-refundable.
