Rooming Assignments
Resident campers can room with whomever they wish as long as they choose each other. We can have up to three people in a room. All rooms are the same size, but we have a limited number of three person rooms. You are be able to sign up for roommates via our Roommate Manager through the Registration Login link. All roommates must be registered in order to complete the roommate selection process.
*** The college charges $75 per lost key. Each resident camper will be given a room key and is responsible for the return of that key. Lost keys are the responsibility of the camper. Lanyards help in not losing keys. We have them for sale for $1 or you can bring your own.***

Camper Contact
If parents need to contact a camper, messages may be left on Camp Directors cell phones: Laurie Kelly (928-856-1179) or Justin DeGrood (612-749-4703). If there is an emergency after normal business hours, call the Gustavus Safety and Security department at (507) 933-8888 or the St. Peter Police Department at (507) 931-1550 and they will relay your message to us.
Camp Rules
If a camper does not abide by camp rules, which are explained on the first day of camp, that camper will be sent home with no refund. A telephone call will be made to parents explaining the situation. Fortunately, throughout the history of Gustie Basketball and Leadership Camp, this has happened rarely.
Behavior Guidelines
The quality of each camper's experience is dependent on not only what is learned on the basketball floor, but also by interaction with their peers away from the court. Campers are expected to treat each other with respect and care and are asked to observe regular rules of neatness and courtesy necessary for residence hall living.
Camp rules and regulations are clearly defined during the first day of camp.
Campus security and camp staff are on duty at all times.
Campers are expected to be at all sessions and are only allowed off campus under the supervision of camp personnel, family members or people designated by their parents. Only Day Campers are allowed to travel off campus on their own.

LEARN FROM LEGENDS
Our Coaches
About Us
We are looking forward to camps again this summer! It is our intention to continue to provide the best instruction and enjoyment of our overnight camp experience.
The “Gustie” Basketball and Leadership Camp is a special camp for special people. It is designed to help each player, from the highly skilled, to those who are just beginning. With the aid of an experienced staff, the camp program has been carefully designed to develop individual skills, stimulate personal goals and give each participant a unique and meaningful experience.
The ultimate aim of the camp is to develop a well-rounded basketball player emphasizing discipline, floor presence and team concepts. Each player will receive individual attention designed to help correct and improve areas of weakness or inexperience. Everyone gets equal time in five-on-five and half-court games. Fundamentals are taught daily and reinforced in league play.
Time is also set aside to discuss leadership, motivation and positive living. Contests, speakers, and free shooting round out the daily schedule.
Our History
The “Gustie” Basketball and Leadership Camp began operation in 1982 under the direction of Bob Erdman. That first summer camp had 28 campers. Now, many years later, it has grown to be the most popular and well attended camp in Minnesota.
Mark Hanson, former head men’s basketball coach, added to the legacy of GBLC as he was camp director from 2008-2023. He continued to encourage the value of leadership in the lives and play of players of all levels.
Beginning in the fall of 2023 Laurie Kelly, Gustavus head women’s basketball coach since 2012-13, and Justin DeGrood, Gustavus head men’s basketball coach since 2022-23 and lead assistant for 9 seasons prior, assume the role as Co-Camp Directors. Both have had a pivotal roles for the last 12+ years in Gustie Basketball & Leadership Camp as coaches and assistant directors.
The popularity of the camp is derived from several factors. Our coaches are excellent teachers of the game and care about kids. They expect a lot from campers and campers appreciate the push and encouragement the coaches give them.
We have a balanced program that gives intense basketball time, quality leadership presentations, and time to use the outstanding facilities at Gustavus and enjoy new and old friends at camp.
