ABOUT US
Colonel Swim Camp
We’re excited to be back for our 20th year with Colonel swim camps. This year will be our first camp in our new facility. Coach Dean Brownley and his staff provide competitive swimmers excellent instruction and training with an emphasis on stroke technique. Our goal is to create a fun, exciting and enthusiastic environment for each swimmer at camp.
Located only 40 minutes outside Lexington and 1 hour from Louisville competitive swimmers from Kentucky and beyond can train and improve their strokes at Centre College. Now open a 50 meter x 10 lane pool located in the middle of campus. Overnight campers reside in campus housing located a short walk from the pool and eat all meals in the campus dining hall.
Colonels swim camps Camp is open to any and all entrants. For your safety and benefit, we recommend you have competitive swimming experience (e.g. U.S.S. age group, national qualifiers, high school swimmers, or summer league swimmers) and can swim at least 50 meters in all four competitive strokes: fly, back, breast and freestyle.
HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE
- Stroke technique refinement for competitive swimming
- Low camper to staff ratio
- Fun evening games
- Every camper receives a Camp T-shirt and Swim Cap
Be a part of the Colonel Swim Camp. Head Coach Dean Brownley brings together an experienced staff of College and age-group coaches, as well as past and present collegiate athletes to work with campers on improving technique, strength, endurance, and swimming knowledge.
Our Camps are designed to encompass an environment that is challenging yet fun. The staff puts every child’s interests first and that is the main reason why the Centre Camps have been so successful. The coaching, facilities, and organization ensure a wonderful atmosphere for campers.

Our Coaches
DEAN BROWNLEY – Camp Director
Coach Brownley has just completed his 23rd year at Centre College. This is the 20th year for camp at Centre. “This is one of my favorite times of the year. We have a great mix of technique work during the day and fun games at night.” This will also be a unique year with moving into the new Champions Hall pool.
SARAH HOLMAN – Head Clinician
After helping Coach Brownley start this camp over 20 years ago, Sarah has been back to help a number of times. Sarah coached with Dean for 7 years at Centre before moving on to Swim MAC in Charlotte. While with Swim MAC she coached a number of Junior National qualifiers and was on coach for team USA in the 2018 Pan Pacific games. Soon after the Pan Pacific games she changed directions and has been coaching at Davidson College for the past 4 years. While at Davidson they have set 11 School records, had the swimmer of the year three times and the newcomer of the year once.
Her ability to reach the top-level swimmer and ability to instruct the someone that is relatively new to the sport is a true gift. We are so excited to have her back this summer.

This will be Ben’s second year with us and we are very excited to have him join our staff. His wealth of experience and energy was something that I felt from the first time I spoke with him.
