Campers will enjoy a week of team and individual basketball activities in a fun and instructional environment under the supervision of Old Dominion University Men’s Basketball Head Coach Mke Jones and staff, as well as current and former ODU Monarch basketball players.

The Mike Jones Basketball Camp is committed to teaching and developing the fundamental skills of basketball and the value of teamwork.  The focus of camp will be skill instruction and development in addition to team play concepts.  Campers will compete in full court basketball games as well as individual skill competitions each day.  Campers will have the chance to improve as a player and help make new friends.  Lunch is not provided.  Campers should bring their own lunch.  More information about pre-purchasing lunch from the university’s food court will be provided after registration.

All camps will be held in the Jim Jarrett Athletic Administration Building on the campus of Old Dominion University.  The Jim Jarrett Athletic Administration Building is located on Parker Avenue and is only accessible by car from 43rd Street.

All campers should wear comfortable basketball or tennis shoes and sports attire.  All campers should bring a water bottle to camp each day.  We ask that campers do not bring their own basketballs to camp.  We have plenty and do not want campers to lose their personal balls.

While we are excited to host camps again this summer, our top priority will be providing a safe and healthy environment for all our campers and staff.  The Mike Jones Basketball Camps will follow all Old Dominion University health and safety protocols.  Should Old Dominion University’s health and safety protocols and requirements change, all changes to our operating procedures will be communicated.

LOCATION:

The camp will take place each day in the Jim Jarrett Athletic Administration Building on the campus of Old Dominion University, located at 4500 Parker Avenue.  You will need to access Parker Avenue from 43rd Street.  Parker Avenue is the street that runs between the ODU baseball and soccer stadiums.  When you drive down Parker Avenue from 43rd Street, you will enter a small parking lot and the Jarrett Athletic Administration Building will be on your right (and the ODU tennis center will be on your left).

PARKING:

If you plan on parking your car and entering the gym (at registration on Monday morning, or at drop-off or pick-up each day), you will need to park your car in ODU Parking Lot 43 which is on the corner of 43rd Street and Powhatan Avenue.  There is no available parking in front of the Jarrett Athletic Administration Building.  It is a 3-minute walk from Lot 43 to the Jarrett Athletic Administration Building.  The University utilizes a Text2Park system to pay for parking.  Please text Lot43 to 25023 and follow the prompts to purchase your parking time.  The system will provide parking for time increments as short as 30 minutes.  Signs directing customers to use the system are posted in the lot and near pedestrian pathways around the perimeter of the lot.  There is also potentially short term legal on-street city parking on the other side of 43rd Street in the Lamberts Point neighborhood.

DROP-OFF / PICK-UP:

Each day at the start and end of camp we will utilize a supervised curb-side car-line system for drop-off and pick-up directly in front of the Jarrett Athletic Administration Building.  Camp staff will be outside in front of the building to assist with drop-off and pick-up.
