Nathan Brown brings over 15 years of playing and coaching experience to the Shine Academy. He has played at the highest level of youth soccer in England, competed at the NAIA Division I level in the US, and already has a coaching career that includes high school, elite travel, NAIA and NCAA Division 2 levels. He currently holds his NSCAA National coaching license, FA Coaching Level 1 & 2, NVQ Level 1 & 2 in Soccer Coaching , and plans to take the NSCAA Premier Advanced National in the summer of 2014.

Prior to coming to the United States, Brown was a standout player in England and Wales, he played with Professional Primer League club Wolverhampton Wanders F.C youth team, and had brief extended trials with West Bromwich Albion and Manchester United. Brown also played for Welsh Premier League professional TNS FC. Brown said the highlight of his career was been named in the squad for both Champions League matches against Liverpool. Brown commented “ To be in the squad for a champions league games, which is the biggest soccer stage in Europe was a humbling experience”. He was named the club’s Young Player of the Year in both 2006 and 2007 having been named Player of the Year of the club’s U17’s team the year before. He spent several weeks trying out with Primer League teams before opting to continue his playing career in America with the Lee Flames.

As a player in the states , Brown also competed at some of the highest levels. He played his collegiate career as a member of the Lee Flames Men’s Soccer program at the NAIA Division I level. During his time with the Flames, Brown made 75 appearances, scoring 19 times and notching up 14 assist’s . During his senior year, he was named team captain and earned First Team All-Conference, and All-Tournament honors. He also led the Lee flames to back to back conference championships in 2009 and 2010 reaching the national tournament both times. His outstanding senior year did not go unnoticed, as Brown was invited to try out for Semi Pro outfit Charlotte Eagles.

Brown, who graduated from Lee University with his bachelor’s in Health Science, minors in Business and Religion in 2011. Coach Brown has since then completed his Masters Degree in Teaching and currently resides in Cleveland TN. He is married and currently teaches in the local school system.

Prior to opening the Academy, Brown spent almost three years as the assistant coach of the Lee Flames Men’s Soccer program. During his time with Lee, he helped lead the Flames to a national ranking of # 15. In the Fall of 2011, Brown was also Head Coach with the Greater Cleveland Soccer Association, and led the U18 Boys team to the State Championship final.

Brown is a specialist in player development. He thrives on helping young players achieve their goals and find their dreams. Brown is a first class role model for all young players and a true teacher of the game. Brown remains a student of the game and continues to work tirelessly for all soccer players in the community.
